Joy Pierson and partner, Bart Potenza.
Normally, my experience reading the widely distributed, free pop rag amNY is tainted with shame and embarrassment. “You could do better than that,” I think to myself while hunched over the paper during my rush hour commute, as a recent issue of The New Yorker collects wrappers and paper clips on the bottom of my purse.
Alas, today I am a little less embarrassed by my media source of choice. The paper interviewed Joy Pierson, the ever-enthusiastic co-owner of Candle Cafe and Candle 79, on what to feed vegans for the holidays. The brief article includes a recipe for Pecan Crusted Seitan and Maple-Cinnamon Squash Ringlets. Perhaps the paper is gearing up to compete with the NY Times in covering the vegan trends beat.
