This morning at 11am EST, Diane Beers will be interviewed on NPR’s Diane Rehm Show. Beers is a professor of history at Holyoke Community College and author of the new book For the Prevention of Cruelty: The History and Legacy of Animal Rights Activism in the United States. Listening should be a good remedy for what Beers calls “historical amnesia”, a condition prevalent in the AR movement. We’ve gotta know our history or else we’ll be doomed to repeat it! The program will be archived an hour after broadcast, so you can listen online too.
Diane Beers is scheduled to speak at the Strength of Many conference taking place October 6-8 in Los Angeles. There are lots of other great speakers scheduled for the conference too. Check out the website for more details and to register early for discounted admission.
