A can of controversy
Toronto-based animal advocacy and veg living radio program, Animal Voices, has just archived their March 21st one-hour program on vegan diets for cats. Guests include a veterinarian, Eric Weisman CEO of Evolution Diet, Adam Wilson of vegan superstore Downbound, and two guardians of cats that experienced health problems while eating Evolution Diet.
While the entire program was worthwhile, three very important things stood out:
- Evolution Diet dry cat kibble is meant to be soaked 1:1 in water for at least one full hour. No exceptions.
- Is it a good thing that there are so few vegan cat foods on the market? Does the lack of competition lower the bar for quality of product and customer service? Good news is there’s a new brand in town, AMI GMO-Free Vegan Cat Kibble. It’s Italian, but can be purchased in North America from Downbound.
- The average household has a lot more errant faeces than you’d think.
You can find this program on the Animal Voices archives. While you’re there check out the March 14th show. Lauren interviews Amie Breeze Harper, of the Sistah Vegan anthology project, on the whats and whys of her research.
