Another Zen Palate opened this week, on the Upper West Side (W. 105th Street near Broadway). They are holding their grand opening today, and are offering free tastings of Sweet and Sour Sensation on Thursday, January 27th and Friday, January 28th from 1pm to 8pm. In other restaurant opening news, in case you missed it:

Last month, Dao Palate Park Slope-the sequel to the Pan-Asian vegetarian restaurant of the same name on Flatbush opened a few blocks away on 5th Ave near Union St.

Yet another Maoz opened in December in the Theater District on 8th Ave near 43rd St.

December saw the advent of another veg food truck, Taim Food Truck -it’s Kosher, serves falafel, what more could you ask for?

Doaba Deli a 24/7 small, vegetarian Punjabi Indian joint opened last fall on the Upper West Side.

Quick-order pasta chain Hello Pasta opened their third location in January. Their vegan options include regular & GF pasta, 4 sauces and vegan cheese-all labeled on the menu.

November brought the mac & cheese trend to Brooklyn with the opening of Brooklyn Mac where most dishes can be vegan and gluten-free.

The owner’s of Curly’s Vegetarian Lunch opened a new omni-Mexican spot in October called Hotel Tortuga with a parallel vegan menu of burritos, tacos, mole and more.

    The sweet and sour sensation was the meal of choice of my youth! I used to eat it all the time at the old Union Square location. So good! Glad to see the dish is still around. I originally ate it 10-12 years ago!

    Just wanted to mention – Hotel Tortuga is not all vegan/vegetarian. Unlike Curly’s they are serving organic meats/fish.
