Since 2003 PETA has campaigned KFC to eliminate the worst abuses chickens suffer, such as debeaking, crippling, and life scalding. They have received heaps of celebrity support including Pamela Anderson (who narrates one of the videos), Pink, Goldfinger, Fallout Boy, and even the Dalai Lama, targeted Yum! Brands shareholders, and they are going strong with eye-catching protests all over the world.
In the midst of all this, New Yorker Charlie Zigmund has been demonstrating local KFCs for years. He is part of the international network of activists that has been keeping up the pressure on KFC.
Please join him at a protest tomorrow, Saturday, August 19th, at the KFC/Taco Bell at Sixth Avenue and West 4th Street. He will be there from 2-4 PM, showing undercover footage on his TV, armed with posters, buttons, and leaflets. Please RSVP to Chaszz@optonline.net.
The manager of the store has mentioned that during each protest sales are cut in half, so Charlie plans on being there every Saturday throughout the summer and fall. If you can’t make it tomorrow, please consider joining him in the future.
