Tim Taylor would approve.
“The Conscientious Objector” column in the latest issue of The L Magazine profiles Build It Green! NYC, a local non-profit environmental org that deconstructs buildings and interiors then sells the salvaged materials to construction professionals and home improvers of the Weekend Warrior variety for cheap.
According to the article, NYC disposes of over 13,000 tons of construction waste each day. Needless to say such waste of resources doesn’t spell out good things for the ozone layer, our forests, or wildlife. I’m certainly glad that Build It Green! NYC is there to pick up the some of the slack and to pass on the green savings to the consumer.
Stop by their warehouse in Astoria for hot deals on air conditioners, five-buck gallons of paint, and other surprises.
