And their city hall has a green roof. Go Chicago!
Congratulations to Chicago, for becoming the first city in the US to ban the sale of foie gras! Read about it in the Chicago Sun Times or HSUS’s press release, and see more details and dirt in Marc Caro’s “Pop Machine” column.
The bill was authored by Alderman Joe Moore, who stated “we in the Chicago City Council can do our part to discourage this barbaric agricultural practice by outlawing its sale within our city. The fewer restaurants that serve this product of animal torture, the fewer animals who will be subject to this unspeakable cruelty.”
Meanwhile, a state-level bill banning foie gras production is awaiting passage in Illinois.
