Two of my favorite things are helping animals and attending parties so when the two are joined, count me in! Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary (WFAS) will be hosting a Rooftop Solstice Party in Williamsburg this Thursday, June 23rd at 7 pm. The rooftop belongs to Dawn Ladd, owner of Aurora Lampworks and a WFAS board member, and she chose the date of the event as it’s one of the longest days of the year—all the better to be outside enjoying the “fresh” Brooklyn air. If it rains, the party will be moved inside but here’s hoping the rain stays away that night.
There’s also promise of fancy hors d’oeuvres from Verité Catering, drinks, fire dancers, a live DJ and the event even has a fancy host committee (Tracy Bonham, Chloé Jo Davis, Jason Fine, Cat Greenleaf, Joshua Katcher, Nellie McKay, & Elizabeth Olsen, I’m talking about you!).
Tickets are $65 and available in advance. The proceeds will help fund essential repairs and improvements to WFAS’ Pig Barn and Duck Pond.
Also, coming up at WFAS is their annual summer shin-dig at the farm; this time it’ll be held over Independence Day weekend, July 2-3rd from 11 am-4 pm each day. There’ll be live music, kid activities, a “VEGE-Q” and farm tours. If you’ve been meaning to visit the 200+ rescued animals, or are due another visit, you don’t want to miss July Jamboree.
See you there!
