Well, SuperVegan’s very own forum isn’t very juicy (anyone care to change this?), so I had to drop by the NYC craigslist ads for some fun.

Isn’t stating applicants for housing should be between 25-45 years of age discriminatory and illegal?

It’s discriminatory and illegal if you’re the landlord, but not when you’re looking for a roommate. I’m not sure exactly where in that spectrum crazy communes fall, but probably they can pick whoever they want. I wonder if this wannabe den mother got kicked out of Ganas or something like that?

Actually, while you can make your decision based on whatever criteria you fancy, you can’t advertise discriminatory preferences even when you’re not a landlord. More info, check out Craigslist’s explaination.

The best part though is that animal-munchers are not covered under the anti-discrimination act. So theoretically, I can do something like: “The rent for my spare room is $650 for a vegan, $850 for a vegetarian, and $1250 for a meat-eater.”
