Daphne Sheldrick’s sanctuary
Daphne Sheldrick, who runs a refuge for orphaned baby elephants and rhinos named for her late husband and located outside Nairobi in Kenya will be profiled tomorrow (Sunday) on 60 Minutes.
The refuge takes the animals who have been abandoned by their mothers or whose mothers have been shot by poachers. It nurtures them and then takes them to the national parks in Kenya and helps them to become adopted by other herds, in relative safety. I went and visited the refuge, and it’s quite something.
