Pamela Rice is proud.

Pamela Rice has finally got her wish; NYC will have its own Veggie Pride Parade on May 18th!

Modeled after the Parisian Veggie Pride Parade, which has been going strong since 2001, the parade aims to raise awareness about the veg lifestyle and the diversity of people living this lifestyle. Parade participants are encouraged to dress up in costumes and to carry signs proclaiming their pride (in fact, there's a contest for best costume and best sign). Local restaurants will represent themselves with banners.

The parade procession will begin at 12 Noon in the Old Meat District of Greenwich Village. The parade will then culminate in Washington Square Park, where a festival of rock music, speakers, and exhibitors will take place. The press release doesn't mention anything about hook-ups, but if this is anything like Gay Pride, you can expect ample opportunity to spice up your love life.

Visit the Veggie Pride Parade website for more info and visit the parade blog for more details as they develop.
