This Week's New Yorker Cover Even More Subversively Clever and Offensive Than Last Week's! (Or, Not)

It would be nice if our civilization was advanced enough for this week's satirical New Yorker cover generate more controversy than last week's. But I'm pretty sure that ain't gonna happen.

The cover of the July 21st issue featured Barry Blitt's "The Politics of Fear," which depicts Barack Obama wearing a robe and turban and his wife Michelle wearing camouflage pants and an assault rifle, the American flag burning in their fireplace. It kind of made the news everywhere.

The cover of the July 28th issue features Peter de Sève's "Summer Getaway," which depicts a trio of lobsters making their escape from a kitchen window, a big pot boiling away on the stove, while the fancy people who were going to eat them yuk it up on the porch. I predict it makes the news nowhere.
