Ok folks, it's time for the second annual Veggie Pride Parade on Sunday. Organized by proud pea-pod Pam Rice, it's a celebration of our veggie way of life. What could be cooler than hundreds of vegetarians parading through NYC's Meat Packing District, painting the streets—green?

Paint a clever sign or put on a costume or done your favorite witty tee, and join other veg-heads to express your plant-based pride. While marching to Union Square, turn (meat)heads and be the talk of the town. It was a lot of fun last year. I held the banner in front of the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary's Meat-Eater's Colon float. The parade ends at Union Square Park, where the fun continues with tables, speakers, and music by Cheryl Hill.

Date: Sunday, May 17, 2009
Time: Line-up at 11 a.m.; parade launches at Noon
Where: Starts at Olde Meat District, where 9th Ave., Gansevoort St., Greenwich St., and Little West 12th St. intersect (Google it: 42 Gansevoort St. 10014)
Ends at Union Square Park, north end (across from Barnes & Noble)
