Oh VP, how do I miss thee!!!
Hipsters rejoice! Wild Ginger will be opening up another restaurant in Williamsburg right near the Bedford L stop in late October/early November. It will be taking over the space of a Chinese restaurant.
The sweet family who owns the Brooklyn Heights kosher vegan restaurant The Green's is moving on and has been speaking with several parties to take over the restaurant. At least one current owner of a vegetarian restaurant is interested, let's hope it pans out and The Green's remain open! Their scallion pancakes and yin-yang mushroom steak are awesome! (Everything else, however, needs some new perspective.)
The cafe and juice bar inside the famed Bowery Poetry Club is going vegetarian! A source says it's "coming soon, maybe very soon." Seitan and poetry slams go together like peanut butter and jelly!
Rumors, Rumors, Rumors: Ok, the following are rumors, but from well-placed sources.
Is Buddha Bodai opening another restaurant and spreading their dim sum and authentic Chinese vegetarian cuisine awesomeness to the East Village or Brooklyn's 8th Avenue or Park Slope? (There's also a Buddha Bodai in Flushing ; though the food is good, you won't get great and friendly service like you would in Chinatown - frankly, the service at the Flushing location is simply awful.)
Foodswings seeking a spot in Manhattan? Perhaps this time with a bathroom?? (oh, Freedom, you know you love me. *wink!)
Since this rumor has been circulating for at least half a year now, I'm not so sure this will actually happen any time soon. But anyhow, Kate's may make a landing in Williamsburg near the Lorimer stop??
Is the owner of several NYC Southeast Asian restaurants really thinking of opening a Malaysian vegetarian restaurant??? Wow! That'd be absolutely awesome!
