PETA Mourns Anna Nicole

February 10, 2007 12:32pm
Trimspa, Baby!

Trimspa, Baby!

PETA's statement on the death of Anna Nicole Smith, "a long-time vegetarian who had slimmed down into a stunning beauty when she stopped eating meat," might have elicited a few snorts. The fantastic news is that vegetarians can now rejoice that certain "substances" are PETA-approved! And while many perky veg-evangelicals are happy to point out their clear skin, healthy hair, and high energy, a slurred "Like my body?" might now be added to the mix.

To be fair, the death of Anna Nicole Smith, who participated in campaigns against Iams animal tests and fur, is sad news. Like Jayne Mansfield, another chihuahua-toting tragic blonde, she leaves a small child behind, Dannielynn Hope. Let's hope that Dannielynn, like Jayne Mansfield's daughter, Mariska Hargitay, grows up to form a niche for herself, perhaps even starring in Law & Order: Hovercraft.

Haha! Great post! I even got the hovercraft joke :)

Just like her death, which I'm sure will be built up into one of Hollywood's favorite mysteries, it's hard to comprehend a life like hers. I'm just gonna go back to ignoring her.

That was so mean. I for one actually was a fan of annas. I've never watched any of her pornos, but she's made so many, and as a someone in the bussiness, it's inspiring.
I can't believe how people are treating her death, and death in gerneral. The law and order joke was tasteless.
    R.I.P. Anna and Daniel.

I wouldn't go so far as to say I was a fan of her work, but I did like Anna Nicole. She was funny, entertaining, and yes, beautiful. In fact, since my body type is not dissimilar to hers (although my boobs are real), I consider her post-Trimspa body my fitness goal - fit and toned but not skinny and bony. However, I'm opting to not weaken my heart with diet pills. I wouldn't be suprised to learn this was a contributing factor to her death.

I can understand your displeasure with the tone of this post - it is disrespectful. It's unfortunate that Anna was not a woman that inspired respect. However, I don't see any problem with the Law & Order joke. That was funny - it was a stab at the TV industry, not Anna. SuperVegan is pointing out how TV producers will just take something successful and flog it to death until they've milked out the cash cow, if you'll pardon the expression.

I assumed Beatyourheartout was being sarcastic. But if not, I'm sure we're all eager for reports on what it's like to be vegan in the porn industry!

I wonder if she ever considered how many rats/mice etc died for her fake breasts... They really do test breast implants on animals - it's pretty fucked up and I can't understand anyone who will support animal testing for their appearence, yet not for their dogs food... Just doesn't make sense to me...
and the porno industry sucks... I don't support porno industries nor do I support anyone who works for them.

I suppose the people who are offended have never spent time here...

I hate people who generalize and put everything into a box. "I don't support the porno industry" Fine! But to say you have no respect for everyone involved in them is so damning.
No I was'nt being sarcastic. Not every company is the same. It's sexually liberated to have sex with friends and put it out there for the world to see and say I don't care this is great. Anyway this is not about me...
It's just I would've liked to think that SuperVegan would have more class, than the national enquirior, but my bad.

Oh and Lonelytress I wonder if she ever knew that they tested on animals for silcons? I did'nt even know that.
Just because someone is not a vegan does'nt mean they don't deserve respect.

What a tasteless entry. Have respect for the dead.

I'd like to be pointed to the literature regarding animal testing on breast implants; I'd not heard of this either.

The thing is, at one point or another, every medical procedure has in some way been tested on animals. We can't change history, but what we can do is to press for the end of the use of animals in science - by getting involved in effective campaigns that pressure corporations and policy makers to stop conducting vivisection. As an example, I'm sure we're all against slavery; many roads and tunnels in America were built on the blood and sweat of slaves, surely, it wouldn't make any sense for us to boycott using roads and tunnels.

It makes perfect sense, however, to boycott Patrick's fake boobies. They're kinda gross, medical procedure or no.

It's not surprising that people such as Robert C. Baker and Anna Nicole Smith are mocked, while "champions" of the vegan cause (such as the chicken rights activist) are lauded as heroes, postmortem.

It is unfortunate that a group of people (or perhaps one website owner) has to make themselves out to be immature and snobbish by mocking the dead who didn't agree with them.

And abstaining from meat can't make your hair healthy. Your hair is dead tissue.
