Breaking: Dunkin' Donuts To Carry Non-Dairy Products

Time to make the vegans happy?

Ever since Dunkin' Donuts opened up a mega-plant on my block it has been olfactory torture. I like my coffee to taste like candy, but I can't even get that...or can I?! I just got an e-mail from Jon Luther, CEO of Dunkin' Donuts: "we are revising our service model to eventually include...non-dairy products."

Ask and ye shall receive has never been more apparent. I spent about ten minutes this morning looking for Luther's e-mail address so that I might electronically assault him for not meeting my needs. I didn't find it, so I made an educated guess, and guess what - it worked! He replied in T minus three minutes. Read the full transcript of our exchange after the jump.

Here's what I wrote:

"As a coffee lover and consumer, I am wondering when, if ever, your company will choose to serve its customers in a way that more successfully rivals, say, Starbucks, by offering a truly non-dairy alternative like Soy Milk. You know, that other place even gets away with charging extra for half-an-inch worth of the stuff and their coffee tastes like death in my mouth. If they can do it, why can't you?

"By failing to provide for those of us who don't/can't partake in dairy, you prohibit lots and lots of people flush with capital from purchasing your supposedly delicious beverages. Let us buy things from you!"

And here's his response:

Andrea, thank you for the note. In fact, we are revising our service model to eventually include the offerings you describe. Let me know your favorite Dunkin Donuts, maybe we get our non-dairy products there before a market change occurs.

So, SuperVegans, you heard it here first: non-dairy products soon to be at D&D. You're welcome. It remains to be seen whether these product's non-dairy claims will also achieve vegan status or not, but I'd like to hear some feedback on how you think I should proceed! And what are your favorite Dunkin' Donuts locations?

  the donkin donuts next to where i live serves soy milk. my friend asked them if they knew which other ones had soy milk and apparantly the one next to me is the ONLY donkin donuts in manhattan that has soy milk. guess i got lucky! & they don't charge extra.

  Soy milk is discusting in coffee! When will people realize that it is NOT the only alternative?! My favorites are oat milk and hemp milk b/c they taste good and they are thick like cow's milk. However, in coffee, non-dairy coffee mate is the best alternative, in my humble opinion.

  This is Great news! See if you can get them to make vegan donuts like the ones that Atlas Cafe has!! Even non-vegans would eat THOSE - and everyone's always trying to eat better these days so why not offer it as an option? Thanks for your efforts.

  Melissa, it's true that soy milk does curdle in heat, but "non-dairy" Coffee Mate still contains milk ingredients.

  Not all soy milk curdles in coffee. I use Silk and it's fine.

  Unfortunately they still haven't made many non-dairy products at DD, makes me rather sad since donuts are so delicious, but they contain milk products which I can't have.
