Thanksgiving Survival Poll
November 26, 2007 11:26am
SuperVegan's Olivia Lane, Jason Das, Patrick Kwan, and Laura Leslie indulge Patrick's obsession with the Tofurkey Disguise Kit.
Did you suffer ritual family ridicule? Did you manage to get enough vegans together to have an all vegan meal? (I went to two!) Did you go out to a restaurant, perhaps aided by our awesome holiday listings? Or did you spend the holiday alone, like Whole Foods wants you to (link to PDF, featuring "vegan dinner for one")? Take the poll, and tell us stories in the comments!
If you can't see the poll below, vote here instead.

All of them were awesome, the company was great, the food was AMAZING, and I seriously feel like I'm going to explode. (I think I must be trying to compensate for all those years of being the freak in the corner heating up a frozen vegan dinner and getting mocked by family members.)

After the past few years of being a spoiled vegan, especially at Native Foods' Costa Mesa restaurant in California, I can't even imagine going to another non-vegan family Thanksgiving. Sorry, folks!

We had: tofurkey, gravy, stuffing with pecans, garlic & lime mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cheeze & broccoli bake, apricot glazed carrots, pumpkin bread with raisins (I'm not a fan of those so I picked them out) and walnuts, and candied sweet potatoes. I ate the sweet potatoes last, as a dessert because even though my mom had made a desert, we were too full from all of the other stuff to eat it that night. My parents were so pleased that my mom even said our dinner could have impressed any meat eater. We laughed at how silly meat munchers can be.

Sadly, on the real day I was sick with a bad flu. I had my very first tofurky (and was surprised at how good it was). And yes, my cat was there too. . .and I'm counting her so I wasn't technically alone. ;)
