Do you ever stare at a long, rectangular fish tank, waiting for your one true love to appear on the other side? That one person for whom you’d die a historically tragic death? And also that the fish were swimming in the ocean? Just me, then? Well, this is what comes to mind when I hear “masquerade.” Basically, it’s Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes locking eyes for the first time, through the enchanting, refracted light of a fish tank.
I’m pretty sure that’s how things are going to roll at the Mardi Gras masquerade that Verite Catering is organizing for Friday, February 24. Because I expect only the classiest of events from Verite and because masques are all about mysterious encounters and sparkly costumes. But on to the details.

Benefiting New Yorkers for Clean, Livable & Safe Streets (NYCLASS), we’re partying to the tune of ending abuse of carriage horses in NYC, in masks, which are required. (Do they not let you in if you don’t wear one? Hmmm…I won’t tempt Daphne, though, because she’s a big scary monster! Also a sweet angel who sprinkles my life with lovely events.) Tickets are $25 for general admission, and $45 VIP tickets get you a piece of cake, two drinks, and priority seating at the costume contest. Food and drinks for purchase (cash only!)
I’ve got my ticket and I’m already gathering all kinds of feathers and sequins off the street for my fancy face cover. I’ll see you there.

on #Hey, how much is donated / tax-deductible per general / VIP ticket? Some people were asking me.

on #Hi Andreas,
All proceeds from the event from tickets, raffles, and food/drink will be donated to NYCLASS. Nothing is tax-deductible, however, because NYCLASS is a 501c4. Thanks and hope to see you there!
