Oh, I’m so superpsyched! My favorite restaurant, Red Bamboo Brooklyn, has just announced that it is launching a seasonal market this Sunday, November 19. The market, called Handmade Brooklyn, will be held in the restaurant’s garden and feature vegetarian crafts (leather is prohibited) made by local artisans. This is just another reason to enjoy a lazy Sunday afternoon in superhip Fort Greene, parent of the best block in NYC.
Crafty vegans interested in participating as vendors should contact Kaitlyn at kfalk@redbamboobrooklyn.com for details. There is a $50 vendors fee, but this includes a free lunch special.
Not a crafter yet? Check out Get Your Crochet On!: Hip Hats and Cool Caps by vegan yarn master and former Brooklynite Afya Ibomu of Nattral.com. Afya’s creations have crowned veg-heads like Erykah Badu, Common, and (her husband) stic man of dead prez. Give her fun and funky projects a whirl and you’ll be hooked on needlework in no time! Here’s a pattern to get you started.
Handmade Brooklyn happens November Sundays, 12 Noon-7pm. (December dates and times TBA.) Red Bamboo Brooklyn, 271 Adelphi Street at Dekalb.
