Our tax dollars at work
The Humane Society filed suit yesterday in the New York Supreme Court to block a proposed $400,000 subsidy to Hudson Valley Foie Gras. (We first reported the subsidy back in May.)
While the Humane Society is obviously concerned with the cruelty involved in the production of foie gras, elements of the case also hinge on allegations of water pollution.
There are bills pending that would entirely prohibit foie gras production in NY State, but until then, here’s hoping that we can at least stop taxpayer subsidies.
