Jane Mag: Veg-Friendly?

Gone are Jane magazine’s salad days under irreverent founding editor Jane Pratt, when articles outnumbered fashion spreads and each issue included a column by Pamela Anderson. But perhaps new boss Brandon Holley is more substantive–and veg-friendly–than she first appeared.

This month’s issue has an “It happened to me” feature by Lauren Gazzola of the SHAC Seven, and a page of “biodegradable, organic and animal-friendly beauty swag.” A review of Anya Ulinich’s new novel Petropolis completes the vegan trifecta. The reviewer highlights a scene in which the heroine Sasha asks what a vegan is; she’s told they’re people “who eat only plants.”

“Oh, a starving person.” No, Sasha: that would be the model on page 89.
