Jovial Jay McCarroll
With the autumn season on the horizon and New York Fashion Week coming up, you won’t be able to swing a PETA tote bag without hitting someone wearing fur of some sort, so this couldn’t have come at a better time.
When compassionate consumers like you take a stand against the fur industry by refusing to purchase its products, designers will stop using fur, retailers will stop selling it, and fashion writers will stop reporting on it as an acceptable trend. You have that power with every purchase you make.—HSUS
We all know fur is a vicious, vile and “vandalous” (violently scandalous—yes I made it up) industry. From being caught in steel traps in their natural habitats, or anally electrocuted after a miserable life in a cage on a fur farm, fur-bearing animals suffer brutally under severe and torturous conditions. As vegans, we do our part against it in our daily lives, but this event allows us to band together in a way that will continue to draw attention to the issue—and if you win the contest, have fun doing it.
Here’s what to do: Sign the fur-free pledge to be automatically entered to win a trip for two, which includes airfare, lodging, and tickets to join Jay McCarroll at his fur-free fashion show on September 15 sponsored by The Humane Society of the United States!
But you must act quickly, ladies and gents. The contest entry deadline is 12:01 a.m. EST on September 8, 2006, and remember compassion is always in fashion.
