More NYC Vegan Restaurant Guide Updates

Sock monkeys are the Blockheads mascots!

Sock monkeys are the Blockheads mascots!

Yesterday evening and this morning I made even more additions and updates to our NYC Vegan Restaurant Guide. I’m glad to report that (I think) I’ve added and updated all of the places that our wonderful tipsters have emailed to us. Many thanks to Cathy on the Upper West Side, Zach in Chinatown, Paula in Astoria, Debya in Brooklyn, and musician Andrew Philip Tipton in Staten Island.

Please leave reviews! Haven’t been to any of the new places? Leave a review of another place. Here’s a huge alphabetized list.

  • Random Updates

  • Corner Shop Cafe no longer carries Babycakes treats or any other vegan baked goods.
  • Burrito Bar & Kitchen won’t confirm if their soy cheese is vegan or even what brand it is. Manager says to assume it’s not. Hmmm…
  • New management, hours, and decor at Tiengarden.
  • Ozu returns from the dead. Was it ever closed? The young woman who answered their phone today said no, but we had lots of tipsters that claimed otherwise and there was a time when no one ever answered the phone there. Strange.

What’s the point of soy cheese if it’s not vegan?

It accommodates those damned lactose intolerant people. :P

You’d think they’d realize they’ll get more customers if they make the product available to both lactose intolerant people and vegans, but either they’re clueless or they’re counting on the vegans to be confused. (And never discount the willingness of a restaurant to lie about what’s vegan. *sigh*)
