I’ve held out for a while, but now it’s finally winter here in New York and I need some new shoes that are thicker than one layer of canvas. So I was incredibly excited to meet Saloney Chandra and Arti Upadhyay at the Satya holiday party – they recently started the new vegan shoe company ahneemähl (you can buy their wares at MooShoes). Unfortunately for me, ahneemähl is starting small and currently only makes a couple well-designed but very high-heeled styles (though I guess maybe they’ll keep your heels dry in the slush.)

If you’re looking for less burlesque and more hooker in your heels, though, you might want to check out The Shoe Blog, “because shoes don’t judge” (though I sure do). I don’t think everything on this site is vegan, but 90% are labeled as such. Again, mostly 4+ inch heels (with the exception of a pair of canvas Vans, which will keep your heels less dry in the slush). These might work for PETA interns, but not for me.
