On February 28th, The Gabarron Foundation Carriage House Center for the Arts celebrates the publication of Marti Kheel’s new book Nature Ethics: An Ecofeminist Perspective with a release party in NYC.
From the author’s description of the book:
Nature Ethics examines the influence of gender on environmental thought, critiquing an orientation which seeks to save “the Wolf” by killing wolves. Kheel offers a reminder that nature ethics must include empathy and care for individual animals as well as concern for larger wholes like “species,” “the ecosystem,” or the “land.”
Marti Kheel is co-founder of Feminists for Animal Rights and is well known for her popular slide show, Animal Liberation Through an Ecofeminist Lens. Sometimes referred to as a “dissection of the patriarchal mind,” the slide show traces the similar world view that has produced the twin oppressions of women and animals.
Thursday, February 28th. 6-9pm. Reading at 7pm. 149 East 38th Street (btw Lexington and 3rd). Vegan hors d’oeuvres. RSVP: 510-236-6057 or marti@natureethics.com.

on #I’m going. What I’d like to know is, who’s providing the hors d’oeuvres???

on #I went to the reading, and what Kheel shared was very interesting and thought-provoking. She was introduced by her elderly father, who is obviously very proud of his daughter. And I’m happy to report that Chef Matteo of 4-Course Vegan catered the event–wow! I definitely have to go back for another one of his incredible meals sometime soon.
