Our Login System Is Down

SuperVegan’s forum was attacked yesterday by a malicious script kiddie. Since our forum didn’t get much traffic (and a lot of what it did get was spammy) we decided to just delete it. Maybe we’ll launch a new forum at some point in the future.

The bigger problem is that the user accounts which allow readers to comment on blog posts and leave restaurant reviews relied on the forum software.

We are in the process of implementing a new account/login system, but in the meantime users will not be able to log in to leave reviews or comments.

Readers can (and should!) still leave blog comments without logging in, but you’ll have to enter your name each time.

We’re reasonably certain that usernames and passwords will remain the same, and that no user-related data will be lost. Also, we’re fairly sure that the attacker did not access any passwords.

We apologize for the inconvenience and are working hard on getting the new login system working as soon as we can!

Hey Supervegan, how about opening about restaurant reviews again? This is the most useful site in the universe for NYC vegans, but once the reviews are a year or more older it becomes markedly less so…if you ask for donations to help fix the site I’ll donate!

    Hey Thomas,

It has been rather too long, we agree. Thanks for offering to donate. We don’t need to go there (at least not yet!), but the reasons for the down time did become a bit broader than described in this post.

We hope to have a more helpful update “soon”.

Any news? No site logins for over a year so now all restaurant reviews are over a year old – pretty stale for NYC. No blog posts for three weeks…oh no what is happening the best vegan site in the world! Superveganheros, activate!

    Hey Thomas. Thanks!!!

Stuff is moving, for real! But there’s unlikely to be any substantive public news until stuff is actually ready to launch.

We have been somewhat more active on FaceBook and Twitter, for whatever that’s worth…

OK, now well over two years with no new comments allowed – that’s pretty much dead in the website world. RIP Supervegan, you were so great while you lasted! :-(.

Hey SuperVegan, coming up to the 3 year mark with no reviews. Any chance you’ll get this turned on again soon and return SuperVegan to its former glory? This seems perfect for kickstarter or similar, if you need funds. I’ll be the first to donate!
