Help the Humane Society Legislative Fund raise money to get the Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards (PETS) Act passed by hosting a “No Pet Left Behind” party.
More than 63% of U.S. households include pets, and Hurricane Katrina showed the government that most of them would rather not leave their animals behind in case of an emergency. PETS requires state and local officials to create evacuation plans that include companion animals and to provide basic care for them once they and their guardians have been relocated. PETS has already passed in Maine and New Mexico and is pending in California, Florida, Hawaii, Illinois, Louisiana, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, and Vermont.
If you’d rather be an invitee, attend a party near you. And don’t forget to urge your senators to pass PETS. Your pets will thank you for it!
