Easter is an especially bad holiday for vegan candy, with an emphasis on molded milk chocolate, creme eggs, and Peeps. At least we still have jelly beans, I guess. (Vegan chocolate bunnies do exist, but good luck finding them at your local chain drug store.)

PETA2 cites a couple of sobering figures from Harper’s Index:

Estimated number of the marshmallow candy Peeps that will be consumed around Easter – 800,000,000

Estimated number of pigs who died to make them – 125,000

SuperVegan will have more Easter-related posts as the big day approaches. It’s one of those holidays with an awful lot of animal related issues.
