PETA’s Proggy Awards, 2007 ed. have been announced and they make little to no sense. These things are all over the map, from Arnold Schwarzenegger to mall-food-of-my-youth Red Robin to Coldstone Creamery. Yeah, Coldstone Creamery won best nondairy ice cream for their sorbet. My thoughts on this are: 1. Sorbet is not ice cream, 2. What??
Personal favorite, though, is the best new cookbook category, which went to the Post Punk Kitchen‘s Isa Chandra Moskowitz — not for last fall’s transcendently beautiful Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World (co-authored with PPKer Terry Hope Romero) but for the awesome Vegan with a Vengeance. Which came out in 2005. That is not progress, PETA, that is… regress. It’s 2007 and we love our timely cupcakes, dammit.
