Proposed Fire-Safety Bill for Animals in NYC

Bob's Tropical Pet Center in Woodhaven

Bob’s Tropical Pet Center in Woodhaven

On Monday morning, a three-alarm fire tore through Bob’s Tropical Pet Center in Woodhaven, Queens. The vast majority of the animals were saved, but not all.

New York City’s League of Humane Voters has let us know about a press conference tomorrow in which City Council Member Alan Gerson (D-Manhattan) will introduce legislation requiring sprinklers in pet shops and other facilities which shelter animals for more than 24 hours.

If you wish to attend the press conference – which will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, August 9 at City Hall – you must RSVP to (212) 889-0303.
