There’s an art show up at Jersey City’s Victory Hall Cultural Center called “Reverence for All Living Creatures.” It looks like maybe too much of the work is in the animals-as-spiritual-metaphor vein, but I can definitely get behind this Albert Schweitzer quote in the show blurb: “The friend of nature is one who feels inwardly united with everything that lives… who shares the fate of all creatures…”
They’re having a free opening party this Friday, February 2 (Groundhog Day) from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m, with live music from Kamel Boutros and Anna Mosby Coleman, and hopefully animal-free refreshments.
For all us New Yorkers, it’s an easy trip on the PATH train, and this is in a pretty cool part of Jersey City. Get a sandwich at Ibby’s while you’re over there. The exhibit is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays until February 18th.
