Rue wants YOU at the LOHV-NYC benefit! This Saturday (11/10)

Thank you for being a animals!

Thank you for being a friend…to animals!

I double heart Rue McClanahan. Rue’s role as the spicy senior Southern belle Blanche Devereaux on the awesome late 80s/early 90s hit sitcom The Golden Girls won her a cult following of the gays and elderly women her character has inspired towards sexual liberation. And, as a longtime vegetarian and animal advocate, the actress has inspired people of all sexualities and ages to make more compassionate choices.

This weekend, Rue wants YOU to party with her at the League of Humane Voters of NYC (LOHV-NYC) 6th Anniversary Gala and when Rue wants someone she usually gets him, so why bother resisting?

As a bonus, the party also features some great food and more great people. Here’s a list of some name drops: artist Peter Max, singer Nellie McKay, soap star Grant Aleksander, cartoonist Dan Piraro, Candle 79, Counter, Vegetarian’s Paradise 2, Madras Cafe, Soy Delicious Ice Cream, Whole Earth Bakery & Kitchen, WholeSoy Yogurt, Carbon Based Cookies, and Tastee Vegan. Plus, my two favorite words: Open Bar! Woo Hoo!

Saturday, November 10th. 8PM-12 Midnight. Jivamukti Yoga School, 841 Broadway, 2nd floor, between 14th and 13th Streets. Cocktail attire. $50. Tickets can be purchased in advance.

Thanks for the mention, Olivia! Did you know that Rue’s donating signed copies of ALL seven seasons of The Golden Girls on DVD to the League’s raffle??
