Here’s an unconfirmed rumor we received via text message from an inside source:

Student chefs are cooking up a three or four course gourmet (mostly vegan) brunch today at Counter. The normally pricey restaurant is charging a measly $7 for the meal. The special mid-week brunch begins at 11:30AM and should go on for a couple of hours.

God, I hope it’s true!

   Heh heh. I called just before posting, around 10:30 AM, but no one answered. That’s why it was just a rumor– nothing solid enough to drag me out of my warm Brooklyn apartment and into the cold streets of Manhattan. (Paychecks, free booze, and parties are the only things I find compelling enough to get me to leave my fantastic borough.)

   Later that evening, my friend sent me another text message saying that she misunderstood her friend (the “insider”). Turns out that the meal was at actually at her pal’s cooking school. Wonk wonk wonk.
