SHAC 7 Update: Last two defendants to be sentenced tomorrow.

The six activists of the SHAC 7

The six activists of the SHAC 7

The last two SHAC 7 defendants, Andy Stepanian and Darius Fulmer will be sentenced tomorrow (Tuesday, September 19). Activists are encouraged to attend as a show of support. (9am, Federal Courthouse, 402 East State Street, Trenton, New Jersey, Judge Anne Thompson’s Courtroom. Bring ID! No cameras or recording devices permitted.)

Last Wednesday Joshua Harper received a three-year prison sentence. Kevin Kjonaas, Lauren Gazzola, and Jacob Conroy were all sentenced last Tuesday.

For those who are a little behind on the case, here’s a little bit of back story. The SHAC 7 are 6 animal rights activists and an organization called Stop Huntingdon Animal Cruelty USA (SHAC USA). They are alleged to have operated a website that reported on and expressed ideological support for protest activity against Huntingdon Life Sciences (HLS), one of the world’s largest animal testing labs, and its business affiliates. For this they are convicted of terrorism under the Federal Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, which punishes anyone who “physically disrupts” an animal enterprise. I hope everyone understands that it’s just a matter of time before we’re all in trouble unless we stop this very un-American act.
