Award winner at 2002 Elle Style Awards
The April 2007 issue of W notes Stella McCartney recently signed a contract to guest design bags for LeSportsac, an animal-friendly nylon bag maker. She’s expected to design 30 to 40 pieces in the $200 to $250 range set to debut spring 2008. While the focus will be travel, LeSportsac execs say McCartney will also create diaper bags and baby-related accessories.
In the beginning, Stella’s potential for success in the industry was seriously doubted by many because she refuses to use leather or any kind of animal skins in her designs. Despite the odds against her, in addition to her own label McCartney has some profitable collaborations under her faux leather belt. From her Adidas activewear to cheap chic clothes with H&M, Stella again proves she can be a staunch vegetarian and savvy businesswoman.
