The AP checks in with a nice profile of Steve Demos, the ousted founder of White Wave, who went from peddling tofu out of a red wagon to dominating the US dairy-alternatives market with Silk.

White Wave was sucessful enough to be absorbed by a big food comglomerate, Dean Foods, who have made the once-vegan White Wave their “conscious” imprint, and added such brands as Horizon Organic Dairy and Land O Lakes.

After extensive travels in Asia and Africa, Demos is founding a “conference for members of the natural products industry as a way for the veterans to mentor and stay connected to entrepreneurs,” helping out with Pangea Organics, and perhaps considering launching a new company of his own.
