Yesterday, The New York Times ran a rather fair article on the investigation of Wegmans Egg Farm and the criminal charges against filmmaker/ animal advocate Adam Durand which resulted from it.
Adam Durand captured the inhumane conditions at the upstate supermarket chain’s egg farm on film and used the footage to create a 27-minute documentary, Wegmans Cruelty. The film gained public notice last fall when it was screened at a Rochester theater as part of the “Emerging Filmaker Series.” Durand is now facing several criminal charges including burglary, criminal mischief, petty larceny, and criminal trespass. His trial is in May.
