- Remember Hiasl, the Austrian chimpanzee who was going to court to be considered a “person” and thus be eligiable to receive donations for his care? He and his human advocates lost, but they’re planning to appeal to the European Court of Human Rights.
- Zen Burger opened. Hardly anything is vegan, which sucks (the hummus burger is about it for us). We’ll probably have more on this soon.
- Sick of reading about Wheeler’s Black Label Vegan Ice Cream? Not as sick as I am of writing about it, and not as sick as you’ll feel after you eat too damn much of it at the tasting party this Sunday, January 20th at Little Cakes Gallery in the East Village! (There’s also a Boston tasting on Tuesday 1/22.)
- Not to be outclassed, word has just come in that Temptation Vegan Ice Cream (who have way more vegan points than Wheeler) will soon be running on 100% Renewable Energy. Awesome!
- The League of Humane Voters of New York City have just released their 2007 Humane Score Card. See how your councilperson fared. Kudos to Rosie Mendez, Gale Brewer, Helen Foster, Annabel Palma, Tony Avella and Hiram Monserrate, all of whom received perfect scores!
