The Animal Legal Defense Fund (ALDF) brings us news of a victory regarding a settlement mandating the retirement of three chimpanzees Sable, Cody and Angel who suffered alleged abuse by their Hollywood “trainer.”

After the ALDF’s year-long battle against the chimps aforementioned “trainer” Sid Yost, the three will be leaving San Bernadino and heading for sanctuaries in New Mexico and Florida to live among members of their biological families with whom they will be reunited after years of separation.

“It is an amazing culmination to this story for these chimpanzees and, frankly, one that we hardly dared to hope for,” states ALDF Executive Director Stephen Wells. “These chimpanzees will get to live out their lives free from the terror of the kinds of violent abuse that animals in the entertainment industry endure.”
