Vegan Drinks XXX: No Tricks, Lots of Treats (including a fundraiser for Ollie’s Place)

Vegan Drinks Logo

Eat our candy and drink $4 White Russians (vegan, duh) while raising funds for Ollie’s Place at Vegan Drinks NYC on Thursday, October 28th!

Join us from 7pm to 9pm at Angels & Kings Bar in the East Village. Enjoy cheap drinks: $2 off everything until 8pm and then it’s $1 off draft beers and well drinks from 8pm to 9pm. Plus, our special cocktail this month is the perrenial favorite, the White Russian ($4). Folks who don’t drink alcohol are also quite welcome, but you do have to be 21 to get in.

Special guest bartender Sarah will be donating ALL of her tips to Ollie’s Place this week. So, double, triple, quadruple those tips for Sarah…and Ollie’s Place!

We’ll turn down the music around 8:15pm and encourage people to promote themselves, their groups and/or causes for 30 seconds. If you represent a veg*n or animal rights group, come prepared with your (very short!) spiel and literature.

Do you fancy yourself a decent photographer? Or, do you, at least, own a very nice camera capable of taking very good photos? If so, bring it with you on Thursday. Shoot a bunch of pictures. Upload them to our Flickr group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/vegandrinks.

Check out our map of restaurants near Angels & Kings where you can grab a bite after the event. And if you haven’t already, link up with Vegan Drinks on Facebook.

Vegan Drinks is generally held the last Thursday of the month from 7pm to 9pm at Angels & Kings, 500 East 11th Street (btw Ave A & Ave B), New York, NY 10009.

Please note: November Vegan Drinks will take place on Thursday, November 18th instead of the last Thursday of the month, which is also Thanksgiving.

Why aren’t vegan drinks held at a Veg place? V Note? Or even Kate’s place if you want a more casual bar setting.

Shouldn’t we be supporting people who don’t serve flesh?

Hi, Kel. Totally valid questions. Vegan Drinks was designed to take place in a bar, not a restaurant. There are plenty of restaurant-based vegan events and we encourage folks to attend them. We wanted an event where people weren’t confined to tables and would mingle more naturally — the type of mingling that can take place in an open space in a room like that of Angels & Kings. We also wanted to create an event that skewed to the cheaper side of the money spectrum. Angels & Kings ain’t fancy. It’s a comfortable, affordable environment, though. Angels & Kings has never operated a kitchen during our event. In fact, they only recently began serving food on Sundays. We’re actually developing an all-vegan menu for them to serve during Vegan Drinks. And, how great is that? Isn’t it important to also encourage non-vegan establishments to incorporate vegan options into their menus so that they not only can attract vegans but offer an alternative that keeps omnivores from ordering non-vegan foods?
