Will Steven the Vegan be there?
The first meeting of the (hopefully annual) vegan chef conference, Vegetarian Awakenings, happens next Monday and Tuesday (April 3 & 4) in Grand Rapids, MI. The conference, which is open to both home chefs and professionals, will include workshops on current trends, techniques, and bringing vegetarian cuisine into the mainstream of American dining. Vegetarian Awakenings also offers an impressive list of speakers, including Millennium‘s Chef Eric Tucker, Chef Tanya Petrovna of Native Foods, and Chef Chad Sarno of Counter. Each chef will present demonstrations of their signature cuisines. Other highlights are the five gourmet vegan meals served over the course of two days. Thought the conference comes with a pretty hefty registration fee ($329), it seems to pack a lot of value.
We found out about this event at Notes from the Vegan Feast Kitchen, “the kitchen journal of a vegan food writer.” Foodies should definitely check this blog out.
