Vegan Buddies will try to make more likely pairings.
Full disclosure: This is a superfun project that I am lucky enough to have a part in organizing. So while this article may not be completely objective, you can trust that this project will still rock!
Looking for something fun and meaningful to do to help folks in your community and to help animals? Sign up for the Vegan Buddies Project. Viva!USA‘s newest campaign aims to cultivate the compassion that exists in everyone by giving folks all the support they need to go vegan. Those of us who already are vegan know that one of the most valuable resources is a friend—someone to tip you off as to which is the best soy ice cream, where to find stylish non-leather shoes, and most importantly, how the heck to make tofu taste good.
The Vegan Buddies Project kicks off in style on Sunday, October 1 with a huge party in NYC at the ultra-hip new vegetarian spot, Red Bamboo Brooklyn. All are invited to come out for the eatery’s signature succulent faux meats like Bourbon Chicken, Crispy Soul Nuggets, and Caribbean Jerk Spiced Seitan. Stay for entertainment from surprise vegan celebrities and others!
Event sponsors include SuperVegan, Red Bamboo Brooklyn, Inky Loves Nature, Avalon Publishing Group, E magazine, Lantern Books, Moo Shoes, Peter Max, Satya magazine, Tofurky, Tribe of Heart films, Vegan Essentials, and the supersexy shop Babeland. With a cast like that, you know there will be some hot raffle items!
Sunday, October 1, 4-7pm. $15 donation. Red Bamboo Brooklyn, 271 Adelphi Street, Brooklyn, NY 11205. RSVP & Info: claudia@vivausa.org
Folks everywhere are invited to join Viva!USA in making this life-saving project work! If you’re vegan, sign up to be a big brother or sister and they’ll pair you up with an aspiring vegan who hasn’t yet made the switch. All you need do is be there to answer their questions, offer moral support and show ‘em how fun, easy, convenient, healthy and cool it is to be vegan! If you’re not quite vegan yet, join up and we’ll find someone to help you get started.
Befriend Vegan Buddies on MySpace where you can stay tuned on the latest developments in the project and hook up with cool local vegans and fun aspiring vegans who need your help.

on #I am like so there, man…every day people are snickering at me for being a vegan, and I have no vegan buddies, even in this veg-friendly city!
