Welcome Taste Better!

The curtains have been raised, and Jason “Herman Thrust” Doucette’s Vegan Porn has been reborn as Taste Better Dot Com (it’s good to know his mind’s still in the gutter). Go check it out and see what he’s wrought.

Those cryptic pre-release videos I mentioned yesterday are on the new site, in case you haven’t seen them yet. In fact, it looks like virtually the entire “blog” section of Vegan Porn has been rolled into the Tastes Better archive.

The new site is much better looking, and Jason’s got some ambitious multimedia plans. Really all that’s missing is the nattering of the now-orphaned Vegan Porn community. If you miss that, go read their whining in the comments here.

The bad thing about the cliche “get a life” is that it is a cliche……it has no power left to get people to look at the inspiration for the saying.

In this case that inspiration would be that people who quibble about minor things do so because they are lacking rewarding things in their lives.

They do not have interesting work to do, somebody enjoyable to talk to etc.

So “get a life”, which is now a meaningless insult at one time was a useful short hand for saying “you are over reacting to a minor matter which only shows that you do not have something rewarding going on right now”.

I think that fits the youtube discussion link cited in this post with ex-vegan porn users whining over the (innovative) removal of the forums.

    Cheers to Jason.

On second thought I think William Shatner on a famouos Saturday Night Live skit said it best ( paraphrasing ):

“It was JUST a TV show….get a life”

It was just a message board people.

I’ve spent no time reading Vegan Porn or watching Youtubes so I don’t know the specific comments people have made, but I can’t see any value in telling anyone to get a life because they care about something you don’t or because you want to insult them for having nothing in their lives which you consider more rewarding or important. It’s the kind of thing mainstream folks say to people who care about animals.

beforewisdom writes: “It was just a message board people.”

This from a guy who left Vegan Porn because he couldn’t get people banned from VP; and then he went to the trouble of writing filtering software–available for download–to filter out the users that offended him. (He even wrote the names of certain users into said software; is that controlling or what?)

vegan porn was an anarchoblog, no or little moderation, that was cool, i for one enjoyed my time there. it was my first experience of blogging/message boarding. i met some cool people there, my definition of cool is a very wide thing. i have signed upto a few others who i’m being ‘vetted’ by at the moment. i’m not to keen about that.
so only supervegan would let me post as soon as i registered, thankyou, i hope to lay my hat some where. i do have a few hats, even one from the states, but i digress, i do that a lot, i thought giving up pot would stop that, but hey surprise, i can still waffle on about shite for hours:)

so the king is dead long live the king….
    i don’t mean elvis either!!!!

PS i’m not orhpaned, i’m a refugee!!! think battlestar galactica, home blown away searching for the mythical new blog,i don’t know who the cylons were, probably trolls or the bible thing with moses. the tribes of VP wandered the desert(internet) looking for the promised land
( a cool, non elitist, non anal, infoblog )

i’m going to get chucked off, i can tell:)
WTF is this guy, no wonder Jason got rid of the board you are all thinking:)
i can tell, you see you can blame Jason for letting me loose on all the vegan boards, like a virus, an itchy butt crack one….so what do you guys reckon will i make it to post4?

Well, the original Battlestar Galactica series was written by member of the Latter-Day Saints church (Mormons); did you know that?

Anyway, I’ve been online since the early 90s (with my Mac Plus and 2400-baud modem) so it surprises me less when my favorite haunt folds or changes irrevocably. It still hurts, though, and leaves a lot of us scrambling to find a new home.

Just keep posting, James; home is a place that “when you go there, they have to take you in.”
