Alcoholic Beverages

  • FARM: Farm Animal Reform Movement - "A national, tax-exempt, educational organization advocating a plant-based diet and humane treatment of farmed animals through eight grassroots programs."
  • FIREPAW: Foundation for Interdisciplinary Research and Education Promoting Animal Welfare - "Animals already get it. We teach people."
  • Fox Forest - Educational site and forum devoted to educating public on the red fox.
  • Friends of Animals - "Friends of Animals works to cultivate a respectful view of nonhuman animals, free-living and domestic. Our goal is to free animals from cruelty and institutionalized exploitation around the world."
  • The Fund for Animals - "The Fund for Animals was founded in 1967 by prominent author and animal advocate Cleveland Amory." It's now part of the Humane Society of the United States.

  • Humane Society of the United States - Newly reconstituted, more radical, more effective.
  • IDA Africa - Works to protect Cameroon's great apes from exploitation by the bushmeat trade. They also run the Sanaga-Yong Chimpanzee Rescue Center.
  • In Defense of Animals - "An international animal protection organization dedicated to ending the exploitation and abuse of animals by raising the status of animals beyond that of mere property, and by defending their rights, welfare and habitat."
  • International Fund for Animal Welfare - "Works to improve animal welfare, prevent animal cruelty and abuse, protect wildlife and provide animal rescue around the world."
  • International Institute for Humane Education - "Committed to making living ethically, sustainably, and peaceably on this planet the very purpose of education, IHE trains people to be humane educators, offers workshops and programs on humane education and MOGO (most good) living, and advances comprehensive humane education worldwide."
  • International Primate Protection League - Works to create and preserve national parks and sanctuaries, and for bans on primate hunting, trapping, and local and international trade.
  • The Jane Goodall Institute - "A global nonprofit that empowers people to make a difference for all living things by creating healthy ecosystems, promoting sustainable livelihoods and nurturing new generations of committed, active citizens around the world."
  • Jews for Animal Rights - Jews for Animal Rights is a US-based organization founded to promote the vision of Rabbi Avraham Kuk, the first chief rabbi of Israel, and make known the tradition of tsa'ar ba'alei chaim, or "You may not cause sorrow to living creatures" in Judaism.
  • League of Humane Voters of New York City - "LOHV-NYC seeks to mobilize public concern for animals through the democratic political process."
  • Massachusetts Animal Rights Coalition - "The largest and most active animal rights group in Massachusetts."
  • Mercy for Animals - "MFA is dedicated to promoting nonviolence towards all sentient beings through public education campaigns and demonstrations, undercover investigations, and open rescues."
  • National Anti-Vivisection Society - "Dedicated to abolishing the exploitation of animals used in research, education and product testing."
  • New England Anti-Vivisection Society - "Works to expose and replace animal experiments in laboratories and classrooms with ethically and scientifically responsible modern research methods and to protect human beings who may be subjected to such experiments."
  • New York Bird Club - Progressive avian rights club dedicated to protecting wild and domesticated birds.
  • Noah's Wish - Providers of natural disaster rescue and relief for animals. "We exist to keep animals alive during disasters. That's it."
  • People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) - "Founded in 1980, PETA is dedicated to establishing and protecting the rights of all animals. PETA operates under the simple principle that animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment."
  • Project Hope - Works to help abused and neglected domestic animals in rural America through rescue and public education.
  • RincónAnimal - Animal advocacy news in both English and Spanish.
  • United Animal Nations - A phenomenal group of professionals who rescue animals from hurricanes and other crises.
  • Viva! USA - "Viva! is a dynamic organization campaigning on behalf of animals killed for food. We do investigations of factory farms and then produce campaign materials for students and activists, helping people change to a veggie diet!"

  • Angel's Gate - "A residential and rehabilitation center for animals." Based on Long Island, New York.
  • Animal Acres - Los Angeles farmed animal sanctuary and compassionate living center directed by Farm Sanctuary co-founder Lorri Bauston
  • Animal Haven of Asheville, North Carolina - Provides shelter, veterinary care and rehabilitation for life, or until adoption, for "farm" animals, dogs and cats.
  • Best Friends - "The sanctuary, at the heart of Southern Utah's Golden Circle of national parks, is home, on any given day, to about 1,500 dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, and other animals."
  • Black Beauty Ranch - "Based in Murchison, Texas. The 1,620-acre refuge is home to many hundreds of animals, from chimpanzees to burros to elephants."
  • Catskill Animal Sanctuary - "Located in the foothills of the Catskill Mountains, Catskill Animal Sanctuary provides a safe and loving haven for abused and abandoned horses and farm animals."
  • Chenoa Manor Animal Sanctuary - A non-profit animal sanctuary and youth assistance facility located in southeastern Pennsylvania. They have a humane education program which focuses on interactions between troubled teens and animals.
  • The Donkey Sanctuary - "We have been rescuing and caring for donkeys for more years than we care to remember." Based in the UK.
  • Eastern Shore Sanctuary and Education Center - Haven for roosters and hens run by feminist writer/ activist pattrice jones.
  • The Elephant Sanctuary - "The nation's single natural habitat refuge developed specifically for endangered African and Asian elephants. It operates on 2,700 acres in Hohenwald, Tennessee, 85 miles southwest of Nashville."
  • Farm Sanctuary - "The nation?s largest farm animal rescue and protection organization." Based in Watkins Glen, New York, and Orland, California.
  • Gorilla Haven - This Georgia sanctuary exists to "help make every captive gorilla's life as enriched and natural as possible through husbandry and research and to promote education about gorilla conservation in zoos and the wild."
  • Heart and Soul Animal Sanctuary - No-kill sanctuary located on 130 wooded acres near Santa Fe, New Mexico.
  • Home at Last Sanctuary - A no-kill vegan sanctuary that houses both companion and rescued farm animals in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.
  • Lighthouse Farm Sanctuary - Salem, Oregon-based farmed animal sanctuary.
  • North Texas Rabbit Sanctuary - "An all-volunteer, non-profit organization based in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex that rescues abandoned rabbits, finds new indoor homes for them, and provides rabbit care information to the public."
  • Oasis Sanctuary - A sanctuary in upstate New York run by activist Eddie Lama, star of Faunavision's The Witness.
  • Peaceful Prairie Sanctuary - Deer Trail, Colorado-based farmed animal sanctuary.
  • The Primate Rescue Center - This beautiful sanctaury in Nicholasville,
    Kentucky houses eleven rescued chimpanzees and over fifty other primates.
  • Redwings Horse Sanctuary - A horse sanctuary in Lockwood, California, with 90 equines.
  • Safe Harboar Farm - A no-kill potbelly pig sanctuary located in Knob Lick, KY.
  • Shambala Preserve - Big cat preserve run by Tippi Hedren and the Roar Foundation in Acton, California.
