  • FYI this applies to their Cobble Hill location, but seems like it could apply to all their locales - their soy cheese is NOT vegan, it has casein (milk product) in it. It's not marked on the menu as such, I had to ask for them to read their soy cheese label. They were happy to do so, but I just wanted to warn anyone having (for example) the soy cheese-stuffed wontons at a "vegan" restaurant. There was also an item marked as having whey (milk product) and you should specify whether you thai iced tea/coffee is made vegan or non-vegan. Hope this helps!

  • I dined at this cute, relaxed Nolita bistro for Sunday lunch on my way to the New Museum.

I chose the Sweet-Citrus Soy Protein and thoroughly enjoyed it. The chunks of soy protein were tender and succulent. The citrus sauce was tangy, although not particularly citrusy. The sauce added juiciness to the soy and was the perfect consistency. Underneath it all was a bed of kale, cooked to bright green, crisp perfection. Only one suggestion: The tough kale stems could have been removed.

For dessert, I splurged with the Peanut Butter Bomb, a hedonistic delight consisting of a rich, chocolate cake and a fluffy, peanut-butter mousse. I'm sure I'll have to run five miles to burn off this rich dessert, but definitely worth it!

The service was fast and friendly. I'll be back!

  • I enjoyed the atmosphere and service here, but I felt like I've had the very same menu done better at other places for less money. While the portions were good, and the veggies prepared perfectly, the mock meat was on the bland side and the miso soup was weak. Not sure if I'd go back...

  • In my opinion, Wild Ginger has the best Asian "mock meat style" veg food in the city. Their soy protein and seitan are the perfect consistencies, not too chewy or rubbery like some places. The sauces are amazing. The general tso's soy protein, orange seitan, black pepper seitan and curry stew are my favorites.

  • The service here is fabulous! The food is very good as well. We had the tempeh satay, the udon noodle soup, and the pad thai. The place is small (but well decorated) and that really is the only drawback

  • I really like the food at Wild Ginger! Favorite dishes are the sweet & sour chicken, the pineapple fried rice(which also comes with avocado, nuts, tofu etc),and the orange tangerine chicken. Portions are large & soup or salad comes with your meal. (the salad is really good! the soup is miso soup & it's too salty for me but my friends like it). Also the scallion pancake appetizer which has mango salsa on it is really really good! The service has always been great too! I like both locations although the Brooklyn location has more space.

  • The food here is really good. My boyfriend and I went for lunch and the lunch specials were really great and a really good deal. LOTS of food, for a cheap price. The menu that they have on their website is totally inaccurate, though. Just warning you.

The only negatives were the vegan Thai iced tea (just not my cup of tea, I guess (good pun, right?)), and the service!

The service was terrible! We got ignored for a full twenty minutes while trying to get a check. There weren't very many people in the restaurant, the waiters simply kept walking as far away from our table as possible. It was very annoying. The food was good, but it can't make up for really bad service.

  • I've never had anything that I haven't loved at Wild Ginger, though the Broome Street location's food tends to be better the Bedford Avenue location. I love the Pad Thai, Miso Soup and Indonesian Tempeh. The atmosphere is also nice- they're always playing good music and the lights are always dimmed. The service is good as well.

  • in between shopping and a movie yesterday evening, this was a lovely place to sit and eat and chat by flickering candlelight, with my favorite brooklyn buddy. the seitan skewers in satay sauce were delicious, best seitan i've ever had. next we we shared the lovely green salad that comes with the main courses. and finally we shared the jade mushrooms with kale and the pad thai. the kale was fresh and crisp cooked, just what my inner rabbit was craving. the mushrooms were tasty, although a bit on the heavy side. the pad thai had the characteristic nice mix of soft and crunch, sweet and hot. i'd happily go back anytime i am in the neighborhood.

  • I wanted to find a new vegetraian place to eat... and its harder then you think.. since many places that serve vegetarian food dont know how to season there food! just cause its healthy doesnt mean it cant be flavorful...

    BUT

My boyfriend and I were VERY pleased with this place.

Its tiny and cozy.. the decorations are simply and comfortable...The service was nice and friendly...not too anxious and certainly not absent...

and the FOOD was VERY tasty.. and due to the post about the ginger ale being so good we tried it... and YES the ginger ale was DELICIOUS!

the food was amazing and beautifully prepared...

Everything was delicious... we will definetly be back

  • I'm not sure what everyone is going on about. It's expensive and it is pre-prepared, kept frozen then heated up. it's like microwaving a frozen dinner. I know that because once I got my dinner and the center areas were still frozen.
