- i don't think that rice is at this location anymore. it's on elizabeth street.

- okay - i don't live in nyc but come there tons for work and to visit friends but RICE is my favourite restaurant and i've been known to eat there everyday for an entire weeklong visit.
the problem is that i am stuck in a rut of loving my favourite dishes so much that i can't seem to get the guts to try something new!
i get the grilled tofu steak (marinated and delicious) with brown rice and the carrot ginger sauce which i could drink it's so delicious. i've almost mastered making this at home - i got them to divulge that the secret ingredient is avocado. i tell them to hold the greens (it's just a handful of non-descript and possibly unwashed mesclun) - it comes with a delicious little side of anchara which are pickled asian style vegetables. alternatively i will order the vegetarian meatballs with sweet and sour sauce. they are delectable pan fried tofu/vegetable balls with tons of flavour. and if i really want to mix it up i will get the asian coleslaw also slathered in carrot ginger dressing.
the options are unlimited for any regular person. i think the tofu may be marinated in yogurt so that would be worth asking - i am not a strict vegan.
enjoy since you can! i will have to wait for my next trip.
