  • Their cheese is NOT VEGAN.

If you ask... depending on who it is... ehmm, the owner, they/she may say it is. A little casein never hurt.

Their desserts ARE NOT. If you ask.... again you may be told they are.

  • I enjoy eating at siggy's and eat here regularly; the food is consistently good and the service is friendly and efficient. All the salads are good, the quinoa spinach cakes are delicious and I love the kale. It's a small space so when they're busy its pretty cramped, and sometimes they play the music WAY too loud. I'd love it if they'd get some vegan desserts, but otherwise, I've never experienced anything dissapointing about them.

  • I'm sorry to hear that they were so un-vegan friendly! I had a really good experience there tonight with the lasagna, which they swore to god was vegan. And the vegan brownie was good, too. The prices were super reasonable and the atmosphere was laid back and cozy. Next time I go I want to try a salad with tofu fingers since it's actually difficult to find a good salad in this god forsaken borough. Oh, the soup was good, too. It was parsnips and red lentils. All in all, I wasn't blown away or anything, but I was relieved that it was a nice place with food this side of decent.

  • Important! Long winded too
I joined supervegan after my awful visit to Siggy's. I have been there a few times, then I mentioned something about the muffins being vegan and I was told they weren't. They said that all of the ingredients aren't listed in the ingredients, but there were eggs and milk in them. I asked why they left it out and they said, "we can't give away our recipe" I was kind and simply asking if a vegan or an allergy case ate them they said, "well they aren't labeled vegan so it's not our fault". Who would think to ask if they had ingredients other than those 10 which are listed, so what if it's not labeled vegan. Also... they always give me the run around about if the breads are vegan and if anything else is vegan when I ask. They'll return 10 minutes later annoyed and with one answer, different from the last time. Twice I was told that they had no vegan breads. Vegetarian friendly, 5 visits and decidedly the least vegan friendly place I've given my last chance. Ugh.

  • Man, this place is good. Living in Brooklyn Heights, Siggy's made it feel like home. The food is fantastic, and the space is cute with great artwork on the walls. You can even see into the kitchen. The cooking staff choose the music off of their ipods. Very friendly, all around. Best part: after a great meal, you can buy a vegan baked good or two and take them into the indie movie theater down the block. Much better then popcorn!

  • This place is absolutely fantastic. With so few vegan restaurants in this area of Brooklyn, Siggy's could get away with being mediocre and still rake it in. But their food and atmosphere are right on par with the best in NYC. Not to mention, they are one of the few restaurants I've seen that have both organic vegan and organic meat options (for those of us with non-vegan, health conscious dining buddies). Check out the harp player on Friday nights; she's fantastic too!
