- I would like to put a 4 plus on the food column. The food was delicious! I do admit I was expecting a thicker, fry-ier, more substantive bread...which I expected at first, but then again i had no clue what injera was before i went to Meskerem and ate it. I love the fact that they give you lots of it. Note- it looks very much like the South Indian crepes (perhaps they use similar dough), and has a think flat, spongey (not in a gross way- reminds me of the texture of crumpets with smaller nooks and crannies), soft texture like a pancake. Also, it has subtle hints of sourdough/ever so slightly beer-ish (the yeast-rising process). I got the vegetarian combo which is a great intro to the main veg dishes...the shro wat and miser alech was great. I did start to feel a little stomach ache probably due to the consumption of the potent bread, but it was ultimately satisfying, I felt like I was eating nutrients (it was cooked- whole other topic) and that I was eating real food (not salty overload without flavor, or fake meats and cheese as much as i love them too...)

- Meskerem's food is delicious. Amazing. It's also a great deal--the vegetarian combo easily feeds two people, and comes in at something like $12. Not bad, not bad. What is relatively bad is the service--the waitresses can sometimes remember to refill your water glasses, but they generally just sit at the bar chatting to each other. If you can overlook that, though, it's well worth it.
