  • I had dinner at Rawster last night after stumbling upon it accidentally. I had the spaghetti with tomato sauce (it wasn't actually "sauce" but I can't recall the term used...it wasn't really spaghetti either), and my friend had the stuffed pepper with sea vegetable salad and a quinoa dish. Other than the sea vegetable salad being a touch salty (I suppose that's to be expected, it coming from the sea), the food was terrific. We also loved the ambiance and the exuberant friendliness of the staff. I'm gluten-free, and it would seem that there isn't a scrap of gluten to be found in the restaurant. I recommend it highly.

  • really really yummy and reasonably priced. i had the pistachio and sundried tomato stuffed tomato, some of their kale chips, and the veggie burger and all was wonderful. the guy working was really sweet and people were coming in off the street and talking with the guy working and the owner and stuff - really community feeling. the only downside was that they were out of coconut water and lasagna but i guess that just means i have to go back. oh and the seating is a little awkward but the interior is cute - they are moving or expanding next door shortly and hopefully it will be a little more conducive for dates and such.

  • This place was absolutely amazing. While Rawstar has some nut-based items it was an exception to the raw-food restaurant rule of heavy reliance. The man at the counter who was also the chef was super nice. We talked for a good while about how he wants to make raw vegan food accessible to all, which he is certainly help do with VERY reasonable prices. My friend and I got a appetizer, a main (which came with a salad & side), and dessert. We both walked away happily full and the check was about 26 dollars.

  • I can't wait to go back again. This little place was really fantastic. Although my boyfriend and I went pretty late in the evening on a Wednesday night, they seemed to be doing pretty good business. We were still served really quickly and with a ton of hospitality. The clientele was a mix of young hipsters, grad students and friendly older Jamaican men and families. It is a pretty small location though, so we did have to share our table, but it was okay because our table-mates were pretty entertaining.

Anyways, back to the deliciousness. I must say, everything at this place was pretty close to heavenly and it was relatively inexpensive! We started with the chipotle handrolls, which were a little spicy for me, but still wonderful. For our main courses we shared a stuffed mushroom with sesame cressle (sp?) and paradise salad and curried tempeh with kale and pear salad and curried plantains. I had never thought to make stuffed mushrooms with raw portabello, but it was a million times better than the usual stuffed mushroom and I will definitely be trying that on my own! The cressle was a little unweildy when it came to the mechanics of eating, but that didnít make it any less amazing. The curried plantains werenít quite as currylicious as we were expecting, but they were perfectly prepared and some of the best plantains I had ever eaten. Also, kale + pear = match made in heaven.

    Everyone must go here.

  • We had our first experience of a raw venue here and if it hadn't been for my wife feeling ill that day, it'd have been a perfect evening! We kind of ran out to get her home so I hope the waitress didn't think we were just rude. We had the lasagne and curried tempeh for mains & were very impressed. I also really liked the hand-rolls for starters. Some of the accompaniments seemed rather over-chilled and I felt that room temp would have been better - but that's being picky. Would be very happy to make a return visit.

  • I went back to Rawstar because I couldn't stop thinking about how good it was the first time. This time, I got the lasagna and seriously, it was superb. Like magic for your taste buds.

And I'm not talking your uncle pulling a quarter from your ear at a family function magic, I'm talking some straight up Houdini stuff.

That's how good this lasagna is... it's the Houdini of lasagna.

  • I went to Rawstar for the first time last night and was really impressed. Nice decor and the owner and people who work there were super friendly.

I forget the exact names of what me and my friend had, but we were both happy with our food. She had the tempeh, which was awesome... I wish I had had one of those extend-o-forks to snatch more of hers. I had the spinach pie (I think that is what it's called) which was really good as well. I was psyched on the kale it came with. I also had some broccoli on the side. The broccoli could have used some more seasoning, but everything else was spot on.

Plus, they put lemon slices in their water, which is always nice.

I'll be back for the tempeh and the brunch soon.

    GO RAWSTAR!

  • Wow... delicious. Just moved to the neighborhood and I was compelled to try this place.. raw, reasonable, and about a block from the crib!

I am not usually that into tempeh, but this curried tempeh was awesome (although I wish I had gotten more of it :P). After complementing the waiter/chef, he told me he made it that morning! Impressive. The bok choy was great, and the kale/pear salad was nice.

The place is not huge, but it's super cozy. Everything is reasonably priced. The food took maybe 30 minutes to come out, but the guy was by himself and it was a little busy.

I'm going to be coming back and bringing friends for sure.

  • The food is delicious, the service is sweet, the green smoothie is highly recommended. I ate the coconut... oh man. I SHOULD remember the name. It was delish. I went with two friends for brunch and we all ate some of each others things and everything was fantastic. It was hot that day and they only had fans going so the temperature was a little uncomfortable but.... whatever. It was a great experience overall.

  • I visited Rawstar twice with friends recently and was very impressed. Although they're without a/c, the atmosphere was friendly and colorful and the host/waiter was extremely nice and helpful with the menu. The coconut water I ordered was straight from the coconut. You can tell b/c there were little chunks in the water you wouldn't get in a Zico. Like the Red Bell Pepper soup I had, all the soups are made to order. It was fresh, delicious and filling, creamy and tasty but not fatty (hooray!). We also had their Flaxseed Crackers and Cashew Cheese. The crackers were great, but the cheese was not the least bit like cheese. If you've been to Pure Food and Wine you'll know what I mean. The other day I went, I had the Spinach Quiche, plaintains and salad. All were delicious and I plan on ordering them again. My friends had the Veggie Burger and a Curry something dish. The burger was not dazzling but the Curry dish was eaten up in 2 minutes flat. Yum! I'll definitely be going there again and again. They serve Green Smoothies!!! If I lived in the neighborhood I'd have one of them every day.
