  • Sesame Chicken Wrap
The wraps are enormous and make a complete meal. I was very tempted by the amazing scent of the garlic roasted broccoli in the salad section but glad I skipped it because I wouldn't have had any room for it. This wrap was stuffed with ample amounts of seitan, vegetables, brown rice, and sauce. Extremely filling. However, the seitan was extraordinarily salty and overpowered the subtle sweetness of the peanut sauce. Check out my complete review of lunch with photos at EatinVeganNYC 'SNice

  • Broccoli, broccoli, broccoli. sNice serves perfectly blackened roasted broccoli in gargantuan quantities, which, IMO, makes a perfect meal all on its own, when available. They also have tasty sandwiches, delicious daily vegan soups--corn chowder is my favorite--and tempting vegan cupcakes. The waitstaff has always been friendly in my experience, and the atmosphere is pleasantly casual.

  • Went to 'Snice on my last trip to NYC - comments on this site was the major reason I decided to give it a try. After re-reading the reviews here, I feel that maybe I went on a bad day.

The moment we walked in the door we were 'greeted' with attitude. The kind've attitude that might have, if ever, been tolerable about 10-15 years ago, but is just annoying in 2009. Tried the scrambled tofu wrap (or whatever they call it). I was extremely disappointed that a veg (mostly vegan) place would think that it is ok to pass off throwing some nutritional yeast in with some tofu as legit food. Again, maybe 10-15 years ago this would have flew, but I thought veg/vegan cooking had moved beyond the 'Student's Vegetarian Cookbook' - throw some veggies in there, please!!. The coffee was burnt enough that I left it and went a couple doors down to the Chocolate Bar which had much better coffee and great service with a smile).

Would love to give it another try on my next visit to NYC as the atmosphere seemed chill, but I don't think I will waste my time.

  • This is my favourite place ever. Every time I go it's the best sandwich I've ever had. Sesame chicken, chicken pot pie in winter, thanksgiving leftovers in fall, vegan panini, tempeh reuben (though this one isn't actually as good as Angelica's)... But it's their breads that really make the sandwiches. Soup is usually tasty but not very hot. Also the muffins, cookies and Blondies are amazing. I would live here if I could. Big enough space, really cozy and comfortable. Great pictures on the walls. Very friendly staff. Great music at a good volume. There's really nothing I can think of that's wrong with 'Snice.

  • So, I've tried to understand why this place is one of the highest rated restaurants, and I just don't get it. First of all, it's a casual sandwich joint. That's not a bad thing, but it's not as if this place has a lot of variety.

I have had most of the things on the menu, and I always feel like I order the wrong thing. I admit that the vegan panini is pretty damn good, but nothing else has really gotten me going. Some of the wraps that I've had have been cold, and that just kind of put me off them. The cupcakes weren't really right, and overall I just don't get the hype. The place is ok, but these are SANDWICHES!!! Very easily made at home. I don't know though, maybe I'm just missing something...

The bread does make things very enjoyable, so for that and the good sandwich...

  • Vegan Panini all the way! At times, I have made the trek from Astoria all the way to the West Village just because I'm craving it so badly. It's hell on your gums, what with the bread being somewhat pointy and stabby, but in the end it's all worth it.

During peak times the place can get pretty full, but at least it has more seating and space than most NYC establishments. During quieter times I find it to be a really good place to do some journaling and such. If you go in with a computer though, be warned that you'll be relegated to a group table - something that I rather appreciate.

Oh, and if you're looking for a major sugar rush, go for the espresso shake. It'll kick your ass - in a good way.

  • I keep trying this place in hopes to be satisfied with the fare. I like to support veg and mom & pop. I just can't seem to win though. I have had everything from sandwich to pastry. Even the coffee was subpar. Sorry, but I feel I need to be honest. The service is alright though. It is usually crowded so I took that as a sign, so maybe it's me.

  • Snice has some of the tastiest food in NYC. The vegan panini is delicious (though sometimes unnecessarily oily), and I never, ever leave without a lovely cupcake. Takeout orders are ready in a flash even when they are busy and service on the whole is friendly and helpful. I really don't have a bad thing to say -- any day I get to eat at Snice is a holiday!

  • The smoked tofu panini with sun dried tomatoes is so delish and I really like the tempeh wrap. The milkless shakes are rich and yummy. Their staff is pleasant and the patrons are good for people watching. I've also seen some notable people there, but I don't want to name drop in case they read this...

  • A total staple for me. The smoked tofu panini is GREAT. The broccoli side dish is AWESOME. The people are warm and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. The only downside is that it can be crowded and difficult to find a place to sit.

  • Yum yum yum! I stopped by at s'Nice today when I was in the neighborhood and I was so pleased with everything! I had to grab a quick dinner before hopping on the train back home and was not disappointed. I loved the vibe of the place as soon as I walked in, a café-esque eatery with dim lighting and good music blasting from the stereo. After a survey of the desserts on the counter and a quick look at their menu, I chose a "Chicken" Pot Pie Wrap. I swear, this is the best wrap I have ever eaten in my entire life. Warm and savory, with bits of sweet delicious pie crust inside. How genius is that? The service was great, friendly and fast as well. I'll definitely be back again soon.

  • I found the service a bit spotty, but the cupcakes were excellent!!!! I think I chose badly for breakfast - some sort of "chicken" dish, but there were plenty of great-sounding dishes that I'm sure I would have loved if only I'd chosen more wisely. It can get noisy in there but it's also a good place to accidently meet people.

  • I love this place. Excellent service. Great windows and nice wood tables. A very cool vibe. I loved the muffins- even my non-vegan father loved them when we stopped in early for a chat and latte the other morning. Excellent cupcakes that travel well in their pretty little plastic containers- to bring to more non-vegan friends as a little treat. I also had the scrambled tofu wrap for breakfast- it was wonderful. I'm a huge fan and will hop over here with my money instead of going to the Soy Luck Club where the food and service has fallen down a bit in my opinion.

  • You gotta love this place. The vegan pesto panini with smoked tofu is not to be missed. There is a seasonal pot pie wrap with crust on the inside that my wife will always get if available. The employees are totally nice. Very communal. Free wifi, group tables. Kinda coffee shoppish. The coffee is also really good. I don't know why but my last soy latte was one of the better that I've had. They have a good variety of vegan desserts also. Breakfast is a little more slight, vegan muffins, a tofu wrap, oatmeal, bagel, that's about it. So don't think you'll be getting a big brunch. They also have daily vegetables/cous-cous/etc. that changes. Even a simple plate of broccoli (like magic dust was sprinkled on it) here is a good choice (if available). Don't miss s'nice.

  • Disappointed with their cuban--I definitely prefer the Willy Bobo. But the Nicoise is really great; I hope it sticks around. It's too bad they've had lots of cauliflower 'stead of broccolis lately.. Also, no more laptop use during certain hours at most of the small tables.

  • Generous servings of tofu club + vegan panini + broccoli + cupcakes + creamy shakes + shot in the dark coffee spectacular + clean bathroom + friendly service + wi-fi = too much goodness for just one meal, so you'll have to keep comin' back for mmm-mmm-more - especially since it can get crowded at peak hours, e.g. weekends such.

  • Yeah this place is good. I especially recommend the 'sNice cream sandwiches, the cupcakes, the tofu club, and the garlic roasted broccoli (yes, really - the broccoli). I think I've tried every vegan sandwich on the menu (there are many). They often have seasonal (cold soft tacos in summer, potpie rollup in winter) or trial sandwiches, so it's fun to keep getting something new. Also, Malcolm Gladwell hangs out here.

My only complaints: it can be too crowded (it's a big space, but popular!), and it can stink like nasty grilled cheese.

  • Mmmm...smoked tofu panini, smoked tofu club sandwich with crazy Bacos, thick mocha milkless shakes. The food here is insanely delicious. The waitstaff is superfriendly. I love that they call you by name (instread of your dish) before bringing your food to the table with a smile. It's the little personal touches that win me over! This used to be my favorite place to sneak of too for lunch when I worked in the area. When dining in, be prepared for serious Mac envy--everyone's buzy clicking away on their laptops. The only bad thing I have to say about this place is that they serve some kind of funky cheese that when melted stinks of unwashed leper's feet. This stench often makes it difficult for me to concentrate on enjoyng my food.
